Founded in 1999,covering an area of 3,000 square meters, the center employs 37 technicians including three professor-level senior engineers, two senior engineers and four general engineers.

The center has 69 sets of state-of-the–art research and testing equipment, such asX-ray fluorescenceanalyzer, elasticity-modulus tester, hot refractorinessunderload tester, slagcorrosionresistance testing furnaces, thermal-shock-resistance tester, hot modulus of rupture tester, etc.The testing center has three branches - physical property laboratory, chemical analysis laboratory and R & D department.

The R & D department concentrates on the design of refractory linings for various industrial furnaces, the development of new refractory products, the experiment of inorganic nonmetallic materials and the innovation of refractories applications.
